PhD student

During his bachelor thesis, integrated in a project on the seed dispersal loop in Europe’s last primaeval lowland deciduous forest (Białowieża, Poland), Helge studied the effect of forest management on vertical vegetation structure and plant life stage composition. After gaining the B.Sc. of Biology at the Philipps-Universität Marburg, he did his M.Sc. of Environmental Sciences at the Albert-Ludwigs-Universität Freiburg and developed a broad interest on entomology and method development. After his thesis on “drone-netting”, a novel approach on remote-sampling of insects, he started to work in the VerbIps project, a joint venture of the Albert-Ludwigs-Universität Freiburg and the Forest Research Institute Baden-Württemberg. The project focuses on bark beetle management by the means of an anti-aggregation pheromone called Verbenone.
