Raluca studied at Albert-Ludwigs-Universität Freiburg, where she completed her M.Sc. in Environmental Science, majoring in Wildlife and Biodiversity. She has a keen interest in applied entomological research, which was reflected in most of her professional endeavours. As a research assistant, she worked in projects assessing the diversity of different terrestrial arthropods as a result of forest retention measures, the influence of mechanised harvesting methods on the breeding success of the European spruce bark beetle, and most recently, she tested a method for the acoustic detection and monitoring of Ips typographus. In her current work, she is investigating the link between soil compaction and soil arthropod assemblages on forest skid trails by using DNA metabarcoding.
