Forest zoology collection enriches local museums

The Professorship of Forest Entomology and Forest Conservation has found a way to bring more appreciation and importance back to the Forest Zoological Collection of the University of Freiburg. A considerable part of the collection has found its way to local museums, including the Museum Münstertal and the Naturkundemuseum Stuttgart. Especially the Museum Münstertal, has received the new exhibits with joy. This generous donation mainly includes a variety of mammals and birds that originate from our local forests.

After a thorough restoration, the pieces shine in the Museum Münstertal, ready to be admired by visitors of all ages. The realization of this project was driven by Dr. Markus Herbener, the chairman of the Museum Münstertal and also a member of the staff of the Chair of Forest History at the University of Freiburg, and by our collaborator Lena Carlson. At this point we would like to express our sincere gratitude to all the museums involved, whose cooperation made this project possible. We hope that the presence of these magnificent exhibits will now attract and inspire many interested viewers.
